Gaiole is the perfect starting point of the “Eroica” bike path and the visit of the Chianti hills.
Despite the limited extension of the Chianti area - famous all over the world for its wines and views - it offers many things to do and to see: from the visit of the old medieval towns, to the castles and the parish churches, and the local wine and food tastings.

Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Greve in Chianti are the little towns that are worth a visit among the many amazing little towns throughout the Chianti area. The medieval heart of Chianti is represented by the Castle in Brolio, that today is still the symbol of the wine production and the wine history of baron Ricasoli, and by the Castle of Meleto preserved intact since 1256.

Within the Park of the Foreste Casentinesi there are the Abbey of Vallombrosa, the Monastery of Camaldoli and the Sanctuary of La Verna, all connected to St. Francis of Assisi and among the most renowned pilgrim destinations.

Nature and trekking lovers should not miss an excursion to the Natural Park of the Foreste Casentinesi, one of the most well-preserved areas in Italy.

From Gaiole in Chianti it is possible to reach all the main interesting cities of Tuscany, like Siena (35 km), San Gimignano (55 km), Arezzo (55 km), Firenze (60 km), Montalcino (70 km), Montepulciano (75 km), Pisa (120 km).
